Dedication

We finally had both our kids dedicated to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This was a big day for us as a Family.

We are truly blessed we were able to do this for our children. It truly is a gift to them much like our children were a gift from God. Jesus said. " Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven"

I had a friend ask me what a dedication was...

As parents we have a huge responsibility for the lives of our children. That responsibility starts at conception. When I got pregnant I started taking prenatal vitamins, folic acid, and iron to give my children the best nutrients inside the womb. When my kids were born I nursed them, I read to them, I try and do everything that I think will make them as smart as possible and prepare them intellectually and physically.....What about spiritually? By Dedicating our children to our Lord, I'm saying I am going to do everything in my power to make sure my children are brought up in the ways of the Lord. Dan and I made a vow to raise our children in God's ways and not our own. We need to do all that we can to "set apart" our children to God until our children can make their own decisions regarding their individual and personal relationships with Jesus Christ. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. -Proverbs 22:6
A dedication is also for our immediate family so that we would be lifted up in prayer by others so that we will be empowered to keep our responsibilities as christian parents.
The story of Hannah in the Bible shows us an example of a child being dedicated. Unable to have children, Hannah wept before the Lord because of her infertility. As she was weeping, she made a vow to God and said, "O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the afflicition of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life." (1 Samuel 1:11,26-28) Hannah had a son, named Samuel and dedicated him to the Lord just as she had vowed to do.

Lord, I pray that you would give Dan and I the strength and wisdom to do what is right for our kids in your eyes. I pray that we would be diligent prayers for our children. I pray that we would be disciplined in reading the words of You Lord. Amen

I would also like to thank Mike and Andrea for sharing with us our special dedication day by dedicating Mr. Little Luke as well. For everyone who came to be a part of our special day and for all the wonderful gifts. THANK YOU!!!!!
